U.S. headline inflation surprises continue to rise, the metric is now recording positive contributions since December. The Core PCE deflator is adding to the surprise index, however, the additions are relatively small
Our measure of U.S. inflation surprises inched higher after the February report, the index is now at levels not seen in a year
It is worth noting that core inflation is now contributing 10pp to the U.S. Inflation Surprise Index, this is not seen since August 2022
